At this level, participants in grades K-2 participate in King of the Mat events (KOM), also known as Jamboree's. Several teams meet, usually on a Saturday morning and the wrestlers are broken up into groups by weight. Coaches will pair up the kids and the wrestling of all the groups starts/ends at the same time.
The goal of this league is to give all wrestlers mat time and assist them in advancing to the next level. These events can be any day of the week (scheduled in advance) and will involve one or more other programs participating in the event. During a match, if a wrestler is pinned in the first period, the kids will then start again in period 2. If there is another pin for either child, the match is over. Wrestlers may have several matches at each event. This depends on the matching of opponents but occasionally there might not be a match for your child. There is no team score for Future Stars.
Varsity level is our highest level program with more advanced wrestlers competing. The schedule is set by the league and the events are held on Sunday mornings. In this league, all wrestlers will weigh in for each match and must make weight to compete. There are 19 weight classes. To determine the lineup, wrestle-offs will be held early in the season. If possible, we try to arrange for exhibition matches for other wrestlers during the event. There is a team score for these matches so the coaches will try to make the most competitive matchups for our team.
